Dohkhleh, a famous delicacy savoured in Khasi households, is simply, a pork and onion salad. This simple yet delicious pairing of diced pork with onions, perilla seeds and ginger creates a perfect combination. Ingredients:
1/2kg fresh pork, chopped into small cubes
2 medium onions, sliced into thin pieces
1 tbsp ginger, chopped into small cubes
2-3 tbsp perilla seeds
Salt, to taste
3-4 cups water
Directions:
Boil the pork in water till it softens. Rinse the water from the pork and dice it.
Add the pork, onions and ginger to a bowl.
Grind or pound the perilla seeds into a paste and add it to the mixture.
Season it with salt to taste, and mix it well.
Serve with steamed rice.
